Founder and Head Coach
Denise Austin is a pioneer in UK beach volleyball. She began her playing career in North Devon with her first ever South West Pro Tour win in Croyde in 1987. There is little she hasn’t achieved as a player domestically having won the national tour since 1998 and consistently throughout this period with her last Volleyball England Beach Tour Final Win in 2012.
Denise is a VE Hall of Fame member for her international beach volleyball achievements. She is still the only GBR player to ever finish in seventh place in an FIVB world tour event.
Denise is a member of the VE coaches commission and has written the manual for the UKCC coaching module for beach volleyball for coaches. She tutors for VE on beach volleyball.

Sam is a current international player for England. He made his debut in 2017, and has been on a beach volleyball journey ever since! He plays as a blocker with partner Haydn Lawson, and prides himself on having an astute tactical understanding of the beach volleyball game. They are now regularly challenging for the top titles in the country. Sam started playing when he was 11 with local club the Academy of Beach Sports, under the tutelage of England international player and coach Denise Austin.
Sam began his coaching career working for and with Denise, one of the legends of the English game. He spent several winters coaching alongside her in Tenerife, before slowly starting to run camps and coach groups on his own. He has now been working professionally as a coach since graduating from Cambridge University in 2018, and running Fireball since 2020.
